Description

  • Clamp
  • Lead
  • L. 42 mm, w. 12.5 mm, th. 6 mm.
  • One half of a lead two-plate clamp (perhaps pottery repair?). A short narrow plate (12.5 mm w, less than 1 mm thick.) with a semicircular segment rolled from lead sheet (8.5 mm w.) on its outer face. This was pierced at one end by a driven-in small peg or tack, the lead around whose end protrudes now from the inner plate at one end. At the other end, the inner plate is the broken-off stub around the peg.
  • The base plate is torn away or up at the two ends from the moment when the clamp was accidentally or deliberately pried open.
