Description

  • Spoon-shaped fitting.
  • Bronze, iron
  • L. ca. 5.1 cm. Shaft, w. 6 mm. tapering to 1.5 mm. at the break; th. 4 mm. tapering to 1.5 mm. at the tip. Disk or bowl, diam. max 1.6 mm.
  • Bronze small spoon-shaped implement once attached to a larger item. In its central piercing is still embedded a thin iron nail; the remnants of its flat head fill the face of the terminal disk, remnants of the nail shaft protrude behind.
  • Shaft, and disk back, relatively clean, the protruding shaft of the nail now a pointed stub; disk face filled with corrosion product and rust from the head of th embedded nail. The element shaft is slightly bowed, broken away below; the bowl is lightly warped, and slightly broken away above.
