DimensionsW. 24 x 25 x 22 x 20 mm. Th. 2 mm. Ht. of pin catch, ca. 8 mm. L. pin as preserved, 7 mm. Ornament: Frame w., 4 mm.
DescriptionOpenwork fibula, a slightly irregular square; pin hinge and part of pin intact, pin shaft bowed. The pin clasp is also intact (a thin piece of bronze, top curled over). Ornament: within open frame, a central disc with a centered sunken dot, from which four wire-thin arms radiate to the center of each side. The fibula is inlaid in a continuous band within the frame element, and within the central circle. Traces of gold foil seem to be present, as well as blue enamel on the arms.
State of ConservationFair. Ornament intact; clean light patina, no encrustation. Pin broken partly off.
