Description

  • C GALERI RES[TITUTI
  • C. Galerius Restituti
  • Trajanic or Hadrianic
  • Hadrian's villa at Praeneste, ager Tusculanus
  • var. CIL XV 2328a-b
  • The most common tile at the villa. A close date for this stamp remains elusive, but judging from its circulation with bricks produced in the late 1st/early 2nd (L. Licinius Successianus) or early 2nd (C. Galerius Venustus) centuries, and also from the appearance of the stamps themselves, the productive activity of C. Galerius Restitutus should date no later than the Trajanic or Hadrianic period.
