  • The stratum extends above the cut for the presence of a large stone, a tile fragment, and a small stone, all placed on the northern side of the cut. The stratum contained a small number of stones, but otherwise lacked inclusions. The stones were primarily found on the lower levels of the stratum. The color was uniform throughout and some horizontally laid brick fragments intrude into the stratum. The base rested upon a layer of blueish-gray mortar.
  • The stratum was identified and excavated in its entirety. The deposition occured in two phases. The cut was first filled by a post supported on the outside by zeppe and then filled by the decomposition of the pole.
