Interpretation

    • This was originally thought to be a post hole for a structure associated with other post holes in the West of the trench. However, because it seems to have been set higher than the others and in the blacker soil of stratum SU (8015). However, the similar appearance of this post hole to others at a lower level make this post hole a curious feature in the trench.

  • cut of circular post hole whose limits are defined by stone boundary created by fill of 8040
  • The construction of the larger post hole 8019/20 has disturbed this post hole which seems to form a set with other post holes found aligned in the west of the trench. This post hole was set a bit higher than the others thought with which it was thought to be associated. In the excavation of 8020, this post hole was lost.
