    • destruction layer in room 7. NB: given strong evidence for reoccupation in this room, destruction is due to an event after that which caused the collapse of the majority of the structure in the late 5th c.

  • This layer contained a very large amount of mortar and roof tiles, mixed with stones. The soil matrix was firm but easily excavated with a trowel. It abuts 5008, 5033 and 5044 and is easily defined from 5036 to the north. There was little pottery or other notable finds.
