Interpretazione

    • Foundation of a tower? Collapse of a building into the E edge of the section?
      • Ryan Ricciardi
    • 11-6-2007
    • We are currently convinced that it\'s not the foundation for a massive tower but rather the destruction of a wall/building that exists beyond the w section.

  • This deposit sits at the east end of Area D and is likely contemporary with the ditch 5004. The edges of 5005 are very obvious and therefore deliberate (?). The size of the deposit suggests perhaps a foundation of a tower. Lo strato poggia direttamente su 5015 mentre è tagliato sul lato E dal 5004; in sezione è visibile uno strato di bruciato alla base. 10-June 2008: We expanded the trench 3 m to the west to expose more of this context.
  • Walls are appearing within the destruction. They are almost directly opposite (but slightly askew from) the series of rooms excavated at the beginning of 2008 (containing SU 5035, 5034, 5084).
