  • A secondary pavement associated with the lime kiln that abuts the structures of the praefornium mouth (4123) and extends across most of the northern area of room 1, building 1. It is cut for holes of various sizes near the lime kiln and its northern limit was once defined by the E-W running wall (robber trench 4141). To the north, west and east, this layer is crumbly/powdery and is about 0.15 cm in depth throughout. Two types of mortar are present, one gray-blue the other a dark red-purple.
  • The intonaco seen in the section/cut 4034 seems very similar to 4203 in this area. It is possible that this pavement was cut for the insertion of this wall. The darker red pavement may be a repair layer.
