- Thick layer of yellow-brown clay in NE area of chapel. A very characteristic texture: tiny balls of clay with an outer skin of hematite iron (see observations) visible in the crossection of the balls. They look like clay marbles.
- Why these balls form is a bit of a mystery; it is possibly with exposure to air. Miha noted that there is a great deal of iron in the local clay. Upon reflection it seems likely that 3173=3137; they are continuous, it is only a change in texture that makes them distinct. It is possible that 3137 is the foundation clay/bedrock and 3173 is some combination/mix.
