    • a large cut, 3135, was made for the construction of all elements within the bell-casting pit, including SSU 3106. Hence, 3108 is equal to 3135. 3106 was built against cut 3135.

  • cut 3108 is an oblong cut oriented on a S-N axis made for the insertion of SSU 3106
  • When SSU 3106 was removed, it was revealed that the same dark brown clay, that which is veined with pink SU 3137, found on the bottom and sides of the bell-casting pit, was also behind the wall. It was thought that it must be the fill within the bell-casting pit. As such, an effort was made to clear it out and find the actual cut for the wall and the pit. However, the limits of this layer of heavy, hard, clay are so extensive that it seems to be a continuous layer used throughout the chapel during this phase of building in the chapel, into which everything was cut. It's color is a yellow brown where it was not exposed to extreme heat.
