  • This is the largest fragment of this type preserved on the site. One end of the colonnette is broken, with a clean, flat break. The other end is roughly finished, with some small breaks along the edge. The smooth surface of the shaft has suffered minor chipping and scratching.
  • The marble is a creamy, yellow white colour with pale grey veins. The smooth surfaced shaft is perfectly cylindrical and slightly tapered.
  • Smooth-surfaced colonnettes dated to the first half of the ninth century were found at S. Erasmo, Formia (Miele 1998, nos 100–01 and 105–06).
