State of ConservationFragment has a flat even break on one end and an oblique break on the other. The surface of the shaft is smooth, lightly weathered with very minor chips and pitting.
DescriptionThe marble is a creamy white with flecks of grey-black. The shaft has a smooth surface and tapers slightly.
ComparandaSmooth-surfaced colonnettes dated to the first half of the ninth century were found at S. Erasmo, Formia (Miele 1998, nos 100–01 and 105–06).
