  • Fragment has a flat even break on one end and an oblique break on the other. The surface of the shaft is smooth, lightly weathered with very minor chips and pitting.
  • The marble is a creamy white with flecks of grey-black. The shaft has a smooth surface and tapers slightly.
  • Smooth-surfaced colonnettes dated to the first half of the ninth century were found at S. Erasmo, Formia (Miele 1998, nos 100–01 and 105–06).
