- Fill of SU 1698, very compact on top with a dense mass of inclusions of brick, mortar and limestone, and also plenty of white mosaic tesserae, some pottery sherds and a piece of lead. Under a larger pottery sherd was carbon and burned soil, and the soil was more loose with fewer inclusions, without bricks. The fill still contained tesserae throughout.
