- broad cut in rubble N of wall 5209 in New West; deep, with flat bottom and gently sloping sides
- cut was difficult to distinguish because it was found so close to previous limit of excavation. was debated whether or not it had been overdug and whether or not it constituted a separate cut from robber trench 5175. if not, it also cuts 5174, the fill of this robber trench.
